About Dr. Caroline Smith Print E-mail

Caroline has a Masters' of Science in Exercise Physiology with Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Nutrition. In addition she has a BST (Body Scan Technician) Certification and has now completed her CNHP (Certified Natural Health Practitioner) and ND (Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine) degrees. She works with all populations (recreation, weight management, disease management, elite athletes, corporate) blending food and fitness.

She continues to stay abreast of the research being done in the areas of exercise, nutrition, and alternative approaches to wellness. She is President of SportSense Co., a company that specializes in consulting individuals and groups in both the exercise and nutrition areas.

She was the city of Richardson, Texas, Wellness Coordinator where she created and implemented a physical fitness and assessment program for fire and police personnel. She developed the “Fueling the Fire Fighter” program, which has been presented across the nation. In addition, she has been a regular contributor to several publications and triathlon club newsletters as well as appearing on several television networks.

She has made presentations on a wide variety of topics to a number of corporations such as: American Airlines, IBM, TU Electric, State Farm, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Texas Instruments, Anderson Consulting, and the Ford Motor Company. She believes in teaching individuals how to change their lifestyle by having people ask, “Is what I am doing working, and if not, what can I do to change it”, then she provides the knowledge to give the audience member a way to answer that question.

A competitive triathlete/duathlete since 1982, she has consistently ranked in the top three of her age group. She has been nominated to the Triathlon/Duathlon All American Team a number of years. She has competed at The World’s as part of Team USA and at National events.

She has run three marathons including qualifying for Boston’s 100th at the White Rock Marathon. Her time placed her 15th overall and she won the 35-39 age group overall. She continues to race as a Master’s and mentors a wide variety of recreational and competitive athletes.
